Couple of days left

12 weeks. 12 weeks. yes, it took 12 weeks to gut and reconstruct a 9x11 room. craziness. but it looks great.
the baseboard mouldings went in today under the cabinets and along the one wall we have. and the rest of the cabinets went up, and the trim around the door. oh and the hardware on the cabinets.
the electrician was supposed to be here today but he called to say he was coming tomorrow (saturday) and aparently the plumber is coming tomorrow too to hook up the sink and hopefully the disposal and dishwasher but i'm not holding my breath.

This makes me chuckle

Our contractor came over yesterday to patch up a hole in the ceiling that was not supposed to be there. My parents happened to be there so the contractor says, "so are you coming over for dinner on wednesday?". I thought the question was strange...wednesday had no meaning to me. We all realized at the same moment that he was saying that the kitchen would be done by wednesday. I said, "It's going to be done on wednesday???". He said, "yes". I said, "how are you going to put the appliances in when there are no outlets for them yet?". He didn't believe me that they weren't done yet so he quickly checked them all and soon realized that I was right. He said, "I'll have to get the electrician in too then.". I smugly said, "He's on vacation until friday" and continued to laugh hystically in my head. Not to mention the fact that we have a list of small things that we are not happy with and they need to fix. They're in for a big surprise if they think they'll even be done next friday.
I know it may sound funny that *I'm* not upset about the delay, but at this point who cares, plus i'm just getting a kick out of the fact that THEY'RE going to be inconvienced.

On a nice note, Chris sat at our new bar/counter all day on his computer while watching tv. He even ate his first meal in our new (almost done) kitchen.

Progress

The electrician came yesterday to install our light fixtures. The one we want over the sink is the one we had there before. When he went to put it up he realized the decorative screws were missing. Then he went to put up our large pendants. He opened one of the boxes to find one of the pendants was cracked. So he got most of the power outlets and switches done and one of the pendants hung.

The contractor was also there yesterday and the day before doing the trim work on the windows...it looks good. Now we just need to fill in the nail holes and paint it.

The white-ish patches on the walls is where the plaster needed to be sanded down after the plasterers were done. They didn't do a real fabulous job so now i need to go back and touch up the color...hopefully it blends ok.

Oh and the granite is ready already!!! They're coming tomorrow to install it!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Granite

We drove in a monsoon today to Haverhill to pick out our Granite. The storm literally followed us from Peabody to Haverhill. Sadly all of the pictures I took came out blurry but you get the idea of the color we picked out. The overall picture is more the color. The close up looks more grey, but it's more of a cream color.

Cabinets

Holy Crap

This morning I went into the kitchen and saw a strange object in the middle of the floor. I couldn't imagine what it was. I thought maybe I should try to get rid of it but it was pretty big. Maybe you could help me identify it?

Paint

This is a terrible representation of the color of the kitchen. It's a nicer shade of green than it looks. I think tomorrow the trim work will get done and then they'll be able to put in the cabinets.

Waiting

Now we're waiting for the plaster to dry. I think we'll start painting on Sunday. Then the cabinets will go in I'm assuming at the end of next week.
