First colds

These pictures were supposed to go on another post but I'm way too lazy to fix it.

These are the last of the photos from December. I'll make another post soon for January.

We're working on our first colds. Jackson's is definitely worse than Madison's but both are just runny/stuffy. No fever or anything. So the last week or more has been a nightmare for me in the middle of the night. No more sleeping through for me (I know some of you are cheering right now...it's ok I deserve it). I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed so Chris told me today that he wants to get up with them in the middle of the night for now. I'm going to feel so bad knowing that he has to get up in the morning and go to work but he also requires a dozen times less sleep than I do.
How long do you wait to call the doc on a cold like this? I know she's just going to say give them plenty of liquids but they won't drink out of a sippy cup no matter how much we practice so all they get is their bottles.

Feel lucky that you've gone this long before finally getting a cold. That's amazing. We are working on #3 in 11 months. Ugh.

You would be surprised. Docs handle babies differently than adults. If it goes on too long, you will want to have their ears looked at because all of that snot drains into the ears (even in babies who otherwise have normal ears). Fighting an ear infection is the worst.

I've tried all the OTC drugs and honestly saline nasal spray and the booger sucker (the suction bulb) are the best remedies. Try to get as much of that stuff out of their noses as possible and then the nasal spray will dry them up.

I hope you guys feel better soon. I'm sick too.

Oh, and to avoid re-infecting each other...wipe all of their toys down with Clorox disinfecting wipes, and I spray down their high chairs with disinfecting spray. I learned all of that the hard way too. :)

I agree with everything Shannon said. Lucky for me I don't have to retype it. Haley has had 4 colds (from going to daycare at my gym). I second the nasal drops and sucker thingy. Oh, and terry cloth bibs are GREAT for wiping noses -- the kids won't fight you on the bib like they will with tissue.

I hope all of you feel better soon.

(P.S. It's okay to complain sometimes. You don't have to feel guilty about it).

Love ya and sending you hugs!
