Topsfield Fair 2008

My mom and I had a great day at the fair yesterday. Madison and Jackson did really well too despite the fact that I was expecting the worst. It was pretty crowded so they had to stay in the stroller the whole time and as long as we were on the move they were perfectly happy.
The first thing I wanted to do was find out where the photos were being displayed so I could go see mine. I honestly and sincerely wasn't expecting anything so I was so incredibly happy to see a red second place ribbon on it! I made my mom take a picture :-)
While we were standing there looking at the other photos (which were all great) I heard a lady say to her friend, "Wow, look at that big orange flower! It's so pretty!" I was so giddy I turned to her and said like a 6 year old, "That's mine!!"
Jackson and Madison got inked! I picked out Donald and Daisy since those were the only characters they even know that were available. They were so cute sitting through the whole process. So serious and still. Since then anytime Maddie sees hers she says "duck, duck, duck". Jackson seemed annoyed by it and kept touching it like he was trying to get it off.

Big difference from last year

It was pretty loud on the midway when we noticed that Jackson was covering his ears! Too funny
I took them on a merry-go-round for the first time. My mom stayed off with the one I didn't go on with and she took pictures. I can't tell you the last time *I* went on a merry-go-round so it was fun for me too. Every time the horse came down it kind of bumped and every time it did it Madison and Jackson both would giggle.

I also took them on the big giant slide. We all liked that a lot!

I could have sworn I wrote a post about last year's fair and how I want to make it a tradition to take them every year but for some reason I can't find it. I found the post with a couple of pictures from the day but there wasn't any talking about the fair itself...weird.

Just so I have a record, I'm going to try to jot down what I spent money on yesterday cause it was a LOT considering we didn't even go on many rides. Next year is going to be outrageously expensive!

$5 parking

$10 admission for me

$12 tattoos for all three of us

$3 ice cream

$5 fried dough

$4 two bottles of water

$4 pretzel for the kids

$20 on ride tickets (the minimum you could buy) but I was able to sell the extras for $5

$5 on a shamrock outline decal for my car

$4.50 blueberry crisp (which was to die for!)

$10 photo in giant chair (mom paid for that but wanted to jot it down)

Beautiful day with my kids and my mother...priceless.

Congratulations shutterbug! How exciting. Now you need to take a very long roadtrip down to Austin, Texas and take our photo! :)

Fun! I want to take Teo on an old-fashioned merry-go-round at a mall near us. I keep forgetting.

It looks priceless! What a wonderful tradition.

Congratulations on your win! That's awesome! Let's make winning a ribbon a tradition too.
