Schedule

The kids' schedule is so messed up!  They are refusing to go to bed before 11 pm and are getting up at 10 am.  It definitely started when we turned the clocks ahead.

Last night the went to sleep at 10:45 for Chris.  After I got home, Chris accidentally dropped the remote on the granite countertop making a loud enough noise to wake both of them up.  We let them cry for a little while but we know they don't fall back asleep when they cry in this particular way.  So we spent from 12:30 to 2 trying to get them back sleep.  At one point we decided to put Jackson in his crib and let him cry and take Maddie to bed with us.  She wanted nothing to do with sleep.  She just wanted to sit up and look out the window.  Then she started clapping!  It was SO cute!  At 2 we finally just put her in her crib and the two of them cried themselves to sleep.  I think it took about 20 mintues and I was feeling horrible about it.

Jackson's been getting harder to go down for a nap too.  He really cries hard but only for about 5 mintues.  I just wish it wouldn't be so hard on him.

I'm so sorry. I do totally know how hard sleep challenges are on your sanity!

This is around the age we started doing controlled crying with S&J, for all the reasons you're describing! S still cries almost every night at bedtime, sometimes only a minute, sometimes more than 5 and I go back to her.

It has gotten so much easier, though. J goes down awake, even asking for his "cwib" and soothes himself to sleep. Often they can put themselves back to sleep if they wake up.

If we go to them in the night, we try not to pick them up, but soothe them with talking or singing or touching, but not holding. That has helped prevent wide awake moments.

I know you didn't ask for advice, but you know I can't resist!

It's funny, Neve will sometimes throw up at night, and then decide to smile and "talk".. we love that she talks, but at 2am- she might wake up her sister (who once is up- cries soooooooo loudly) so we run to her and give her a paci.
Sorry you had a tough night- kind of reminds you of how it was in the beginning?
btw- what kind of camera do you have?

I'm sorry they're not sleeping well. I can't imagine how hard it would be with two.
But it sounds like you're doing everything right - they'll catch up. :)

Wes and I are laughing right now. Not at you though. We are laughing b.c we have experience with the middle of the night "talking" and "clapping" baby. Rotten babies!!! I hope it gets better for you!

Ugh... I'm sorry sleep is difficult.

For us, the time change helped them to FINALLY sleep through the night. However, naps are a bear now!

Hope it clears up soon!
