Second Birthday Party details

I started looking at cake ideas a few months ago.  I kept sending emails of pictures to my fabulous cake lady, Lynanne, in Gloucester.  She just laughed at me.  Eventually I narrowed down my ideas to the above cakes.  She's just amazing.  The cakes were only $25 each and we didn't even finish one of them!  I knew I wanted two separate cakes for them but we could have gone with MUCH smaller cakes.

Lynanne also made our wedding cake almost 8 years ago.  In the above picture you can see our cake topper in the cabinet.

Sunday was a beautiful, warm, sunny day.  The kids spent Saturday at my parents' house so Chris and I could get ready for the party.  Sunday we had plenty of time to finish preparing.  Chris went out to get some necessities while I took the kids to Gloucester to pick up the cakes.  Madison fell asleep on the way up there.  By the time we got home it was time to put them down for naps.  Jackson went right to sleep but Maddie screamed her head off.  Once he was asleep we went in and got her up.
Jackson got up right as people were starting to arrive.  Last year we focused on inviting as many friends as we could.  This year we focused on as much family as we could.  I figure as they get older they're only going to want their friends at their parties.

Fist bump for great grandma

The day of the party was also Auntie's birthday so we had a cake for her too.

After mostly everyone left, Grandma and Nana helped us open presents.  Auntie Courtney got them these adorable Mickey bathrobes with their names stitched on them.

These spinny light toys are by far their favorites.

They got the Hess truck from Chris's aunt Judy and it's another of their favorites.

All of the grandparents and a few other people are pitching in to buy the kids a swing set!  They are never going to want to come in this summer!

Okay, first of all, it completely freaks me out to think that our twins are already 2. Wasn't it just yesterday that we were emailing each other while we were both on hospital bed rest? Those were good times, eh? Ha. No.

The party looks awesome! I love the cakes! $25? You have got to be kidding me! Wow.

I'm so glad the kids had a great party! And I am SO JEALOUS of the swing set!!! I can't wait to see it.

I love the cakes, too! It looks like you all had a really good time. My favorite picture is the picture of the four of you. :-)

Happy birthday M&J! How amazing that they are 2. Looks like a great party, and I agree, those cakes rock. S has that same sweater, in blue of course.

The two smaller cakes are a great idea! Those look delicious! I just linked to your blog in the MyPunchbowl party planning blog where I wrote about free invitations for twins' birthday parties.
